Hall of Fame

The Rutgers African-American Alumni Alliance (RAAA), Inc. Hall of Fame induction ceremony is an awards dinner and fundraising event that honors the achievements of graduates of African descent from Rutgers University and raises funds to support student scholarships. The Hall of Fame promotes interaction between students, alumni and administration. The Hall of Fame encourages students and young alumni to draw from their experiences at Rutgers to succeed academically, professionally and personally.

Since its inception, RAAA Hall of Fame has honored over 85 individuals primarily of African descent representing many corners of the world to include the United States, Anguilla, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Vincent, Panama, Guyana, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, and Nigeria. Please visit our website for the unabridged biographies of past and present Hall of Fame Inductees.

Nominations for the RAAA Hall of Fame are accepted year-round.  Mr. Paul Leroy Robeson will be inducted into the 2019 RAAA Hall of Fame posthumously. Please join us on Friday, April 12, 2019 as we continue to honor the legacy of Paul Robeson.  RAAA led a very successful crowdfunding campaign to support the construction of the Paul Robeson Plaza.  RAAA will stand with the Class of 1971 Milestone Committee during their dedication ceremony of the Class of 1971 Paul Robeson Plaza.

The date for the 2019 Hall of Fame Ceremony will be announced by March 31, 2019. The deadline to submit nominations for the 2019 Hall of Fame is Tuesday, April 30, 2019.  Due to a continuous stream of nominations, we will no longer rollover and review nominations not selected from the prior selection process.  This change is in effective for the Class of 2019 nomination period and beyond.

The Hall of Fame event has raised over $33,000.00 for student scholarships with the Annual Paul Robeson Scholarship Fund as the main benefactor. Our ultimate goal is to raise +1 Million for an Endowed Scholarship. In 2012, the RAAA Leadership tem established a temporary account as the initial step towards making the endowed scholarship a reality. Our hope is that you will share your time, talents and finances to enable the legacy of celebration, acknowledgment coupled with paying it forward to continue.

The purpose of this annual celebration is to:

  • Celebrate and share the achievements of Rutgers' alumni of African descent with the University community
  • Raise funds for student support programs
  • Provide an networking opportunity for alumni, students and friends
